Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon technicians, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon technician and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.

Bleach set the standard formula in action romatic comedy with Shinigamis. The problem even Bleach formula is wearing thin itself. Let alone one of many who try to copy it. Soul Eater makes no bones it copying the formula with mindless fanservice and violence to the point, it almost looks original but not quite. The grunge band ending song is so cool that they actually put cool animation with the music.
