It *could* have been a contender if the first 3/4 of the first episode weren't so mind numbingly boring. Last little bit showed some potential, but it's going to be hard to dethrone either Knights of Sidonia or Aldnoah.Zero for the title.
Okay as mecha plots goes, rookie gains a new develop mecha and saves the day. What sets Argevollen apart is it's M.A.S.H. supporting cast of characters which are acted with a sense of the voice actors has some real acting chops. They characters though as brief as they're presented to the viewer seem believable. Not quite Break Blade which did the "unlikely hero" the best so far, Argevollen removes itself from the cliche Japanese theme song soundtrack. Mechas move clumsy as they would under reasonable physics.
