In a city so dismal it’s known only as "the Hole," a clan of sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious "experiments" in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the sorcerers of the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head sorcerer, gets word of a lizard–man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.

Blast from the past. I love how they kept the artwork from the original. Back when things were cool when anime was new and awesome.
Not sure where to begin here. This one is at times gory, at times violent, at times making social commentary, at times fantasy, at times comedy. I don't think anyone involved in making this has any clue what kind of tone they are going for. The world is weird - a slum - likely modern day or close to it - that also contains magic and hints of an authortarian state (i think). The main character is fairly typical, a tough guy with amnesia (save the fact that his appearance was altered by magic) and comes off as "seen it before". The animation was, frankly, flat. The first time I saw the female lead, i thought her rendering looked a lot like una/puma from tank police, and that was 30+ years ago. All in all, I would recommend to give this a pass, unless you like "weird for the sake of weird".
This is a great big mess of genres -- horror, comedy, fantasy and noir, which is OK, and the male protagonist going on a sorcerer killing spree is OK since he's lost his memory so he can't really be held to account for some kind of moral code. What does bug me about this is there are two main characters and we're given nothing on the girl -- no kind of backstory at all, which is even more disappointing given her starring role in the opening credits (along with her cookware and her bra). I mean really -- who is this person, how did she get her mad fighting skills and why is she feeding this guy for free?
