Angolmois: Genkou Kassenki

A group of samurai attempting to defend Japan from the first Mongol invasion in 1274.
Angolmois comes from the prophecies of Nostradamus about the end of the world (in 1999) and the oncoming reign of the great king of Angolmois, which is interpreted as being an anagram of the Old French word Mongolais 'Mongolians' and thus referring to Genghis Khan.

Reviews/Avis
Michael Eh?
Historical usual dramas usually boring but the characters make this show worth watching even if they are stereotypical of the genre. The wash over the animation makes it look like old art style which adds charm without being like current version of Berserk.

It has been a while since I have seen a samurai drama, but I did feel this was very well done. It was very visually captivating, had a good pace, and an interesting setting. Normally, historical dramas aren't my thing, but I'd be willing to give this a chance.
