Just returned from Fan Expo

Well, the day was quick but tiring one but fullfilling.  This was the first time using the train rather than the bus and it was pleasing and cheaper. Not only was there an electrical outlet to plug in my netbook but wifi there and back.

As for the day, the morning was good taking pictures of cosplayers in the lineup then heading down to get my media pass.  I would like to thank Fan Expo for the media pass.  Though it didn’t cover Saturday, I could only afford to go one day.  I mamanaged to cover the artist alley quickly.

I was reluctant to leave once in the con as I tend to eat outside but the time walking to Front street and back weighed heavy.  Since my time was so limited; having a fixed departure time to return to London; taking time out of Fan Expo was hard.  I did end up getting a hot dog on Front street but ate on the way back.

I did miss seeing some old friends but the length of the con and increase in tables had a few bowing out this year.  One had to bow out due to health reasons.  Cons like Fan Expo to me isn’t about the guests, celebrities, latest games, movies.  It’s about the friendship you build up with similar minded people that you only get to meet once a year.  Some of them might be cosplayers, some artists in the artist alley, some of them guests, maybe even they guy serving hotdogs on the street. You might spend only 2 to 5 minutes talking about how each others year has went.  Still it’s a bond.

I have been giving too much time to social media but I was able to share with a few artists on some tips that I found works.  I might be producing a series of posts on the subject later but now I have alot of photos to go through and working out a new system of handling how I post con reports, photos and such.  Too all, I met today at Fan Expo.  Thanks.

Lets do this again … next year.

Wary of the time I left quickly.  I just made my train with seconds to spare.  I unloaded my pictures to my netbook in the first step of processing over 500 photos and videos.
