With an awesome new-to-us sound system, a whole new group of anime fans showing up for this meeting. We had a great time putting in some quality time on Super Smash Bros. Melee and watching anime.  Thanks to Taylor, Corbyn, Kimiko, Maxy, Light Trainer (L.T.), Oni, SilkyC and our resident retro console expert Glenn.

We watched Usagi Drop as our one-shot review and even our hard-core action crowd loved this slow-paced drama with water-coloured art style.This should help manga sales of the book now on the shelves of stores like Neo Tokyo.

Sort of a slow start to a series the likes of Black Butler, Toaru Majutsu no Index, Gosick.  Odd relationship with girl who is a portal to world storing forbidden texts and a young but knowledgeable heir to the ‘library’. Huey appears to walking into this arrangement with eyes wide open but is Dalian more than he bargained for?

Up for a challenge

I used to run art challenges at Anime North and FanExpo (aka CN Anime) years ago. I was wonder if anyone was up for a challenge?

It would be pretty well open ended. Cross social media platforms using the same tag. This ISN’T a commission challenge. No way I have the money to pay for it all.

The concept I was thinking of drawing anime character(s) in alternative art styles or taking a character(s) out of their own genre and transposing into another.

What remains is Are you up for a challenge?

Roadtrip to Nowhere

Every once and awhile a friend decides to go to Toronto. Since he dislikes driving alone, I tag along for the ride. Unfortunely it’s mostly where he has to go and I don’t get much time for other things I would see.
I did manage to get out for a walk while he was at one place, and placed dozens of stickers with QR(QuickResponse)codes or 2D barcodes point to Blogspot, WordPress, tumblr, Deviant Art and this blog.

So if you’re walking down Adelaide street in Toronto, keep an eye out for our QRstickers.

First View – Kamisama no Memo-chou

Kamisama no Memo-chou reviewed

What seems to be a cast of characters that a mashup of other characters, we’re left with not a bad detective story series.  Modern and gritty with the answers to the crimes are not  as simple as just pointing the finger and saying ‘He did it.’  Alice solves from her enclosed world with people who in turn are locked into their own worlds yet connected.

While Alice herself, there is no romantic connections that you found in like Gosick (Gothic) which leaves this show a little less but a little more of a watch. A dark look at detective genre.

Cosplay Picnic at Springbank Park

Had awesome day at the Cosplay Picnic today. Play a round of Weiss Schwarz with a mock deck. Not bad game mechanics. Wished the cards were more available. Got an award for being enivromentally minded by moving the trash can closer to where we were until we had to move. The spot I found was perfect.  I got an award for being enivromentally minded by moving the trash can closer to where we were until we had to move.  I found a better spot close by which was perfect for photo shoots where the ducks and chipmunks played.  Also I picked up some trashed that wasn’t left by us.  My hats off to the organizers of this their second year.

New updates for the Blog!

We spent the day fixing up Animedon.  Doing some necessary updates and adding some important plugins like Facebook Connect, Google Analytics, AddThis plus a few updates on existing plugins. With all the hack attacks, it is best to upgrad for security sake.   Expect to see some more changes as time goes on.

BLEACH Shattered Blade for Wii

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai

Properly the longest title of an anime we ever reviewed. Still I can relate to this anime as it shows how much we grow apart as we grow up.  The friends I once had have grown up with kids of their own. Yet this show’s appeal that it doesn’t have to be that way.
