Super ninja relays the story of his life that led him to this point. The main character is very resistant to standard methods of execution. The first ten minutes feels almost like an exercise in torture porn to establish how tough he is. The story of his wife is interesting; a loving, innocent women that he rejected, feeling she was making him soft. The rumor is that the shinobi of his village/clan consume an elixir of immortality. Wishing for death, our MC finds he prefers to live when faced with a person with the skill to cut him down permanently. His executioner can see through him, and his attachment to his wife, no matter how strongly he rejects it. The show cleverly hides how his wife's face was scarred until later in the episode, and that she loved him for not rejecting her merely for her looks. He's being pardoned to go on a mission that requires his skill.
