Baccano is Italian for noise, but light novelest Narita translates it as "stupid commotion" in the literary source of this series. Each of the stories in the series involves several unrelated plots intersecting and crossing each other as events spiral farther and farther out of control. Immortal alchemists, mafia operated speakeasies, and many other elements of pulp fiction are mashed together for a world straight out of the movies.

Doug

There's immortals, tommy guns, a ton of characters and a totally fractured narrative - so far so ambivalent. But there are some cute girls, some snatches of cool music and a train called the Flying Pussyfoot just not enough to make me want to do the work of following the story.

Michael Eh?

The disjointed storytelling in the first episode was almost enough to have me ditch this series if it wasn't for 1) story setting in Dirty Thirtys, and 2) cool scenes where the immortals regenerate (or is it re-construct) themselves at a speed that make Wolverine from X-Men jealous. However the fact that the mob is trying to wipe out two groups of families who are that type of immortal makes this series almost comical.

However, I hoping that the narrative that jumped all over in the first episode is gone by the second.

this is your organized crime, and this is your organized crime on alchemy. any questions?
