It seems odd to finally writing a con report practically 14 months
after the fact. Still this con left an impression on myself and others.
It was the first real time I specifically took pictures for the website.for
cosplayers and moe than just some of my friends on the net hiiden in some
unaccessable directory which was constantly purged. Still this con represented
a turing point for this site.Anime London stopped being a small group of
anime fans meeting in some small room to apart of the larger whole.

The con was only two rooms in the lower south hall of Metro Convention
Center on Front street. I guess it was so far south that you hardly reconize
the place as these two pictures show shot from windows while walking to
the south hall.
The dealer's room was smallest I've seen though it was packed at first.
After programing or one of the guests were in the other room, it quickly
turned into a ghost town. Fine by me, since it gave me a chance to shop
uninhibited by crowds.I picked up a complete set of Dragon Mango Christmas
magnets which I gave away at our anime Christmas party. Also I picked up
some posters for the party as well. the fall TAC has become the definitive
anime fan christmas sale. While this one was more than a month early, the
deals made it worth the trip from London.
Not everything one was dressed in anime cosplay as this group of fans show......

Kodoma no Cosplay

Bonnie has been at cosplaying for awhile. Since being Inu Yashu at this
con, she has done alot of cosplaying. Including being the very first subject
I took picture of at CNA 2004. :)
Her website, Kodoma no Cosplay,
is very well layout. I had recieved an email from her requesting permission
to use her pictures on her website. Something, I gladly agree to if it
is your own picture. There is several other photos from other sites
which added to her collection as well. Too bad, I didn't have more though
I might have in past archives I yet to find and post.
Still you find the site intersting. Maybe someday I'll attend the Toronto
Island Cosplay Picnic someday. |
Brad Swaille is voice for several characters including Moose from Ranma
as well as his transformed character... the duck.
QWACK!

Catgirls are always a nice addition to any anime con. The girls achieved
colour by body painting leopard spots. They made a greeat pair even though
the costume took time to apply.
Full
Moon wo Sagashite character when the anime was hardly known here.

Searching for the
Perfect Pose

When it comes to taking pictures some shots work better than others.
Case in point, the one on the left is far better than the one on the
right. Why? The pose on the left shows emotion while the second is flat
with no feeling. Also this character pose is more commonly known to anime
fans since it's used on posters.
Still one problem is most coplayers feel they have to face the camera
face on. Better is on an angle more commonly called '3 quarter view' which
shows the best of side and front and gives the subject a more fuller 3rd
dimension.
Key: Use reference materials like posters which show off the best
pose for a character. After all, a poster is meant to sell a product.
That product being an anime or video game or book. Professional artists
search for 'the Perfect Pose' that will grab your eye. Use that
reference to grab for yourself and those taking pictures ... the Perfect
Pose. |
It was good to see at least one person dressed in traditional Japanese
costumes.
