May 2008

For years, I’ve been taking pictures and videos of Anime North and posting them on the website. Unfortunately this year, I will not be attending Anime North this year due to circumstances that were beyond my control.

I will miss alot of the people and friends I’ve grown to know over the years. Part of what makes Anime North so worth the trip is those friends who I only see at AN. Hopefully, I will be in full swing for Fan Ex but I will really miss Anime North this year. It will leave more than just a gap in the con reports for me.

Still … a few of our club members will be at AN though not taking pictures or videos for Anime London. Please watch for Heekun’s gallery of photos at SecretAsianMan.tv for photos.  Also a friend, Risu-chan, in the artist will be collecting biz cards for me to post.  Even though I can’t be there, I’ll still will support the Artist Alley.  “Sell lots, gang”, and to those out there, “Please support the starving artists” and at least spend a few dollars on something made, not manufactured.

I guess I should also apologize for not getting last year’s videos up. However, it seems that everyone has caught on that it’s better to use a camcorder than a digital camera.

Gomen and have a good time folks.  Wish I was there.

Fujiwara Naeka is a typical 17 year-old high school student. Or so we thought. She’s really one of two surviving heirs of a tycoon who has the right to inherit his mass fortune when she turns 18 in half a year. Fubuki, a young and beautiful maid, and Kogarashi, a big burly maid guy with a mask, have been assigned to keep Naeka and her brother Kousuke safe from those who would plot their demise, and to steal the fortune she would inherit.

The second of three reviews done and chances are one of the most insane animes since either FLCL or Excel Saga.

Free Comic Book Day was comic May 3rd and I was right there would be a lineup at Neo Tokyo. Owner-san did not disappoint his faithful legions with a stack of manga in especially imported for the day.

As Zelman posted in our forums, Lelouch commands you….

Lelouch command you...

It was a good day in spite of the weather. I ended with Volumes 1 and 2 of Neotopia tradebacks by Antarctic Press; Pretty Maniacs volume 1 and Toro Koro volume 1. The last was ideal since I manage to get Volume 2 of Toro Koro last FCBD. Sadly Toro Koro is out of print so getting the first volume was a treat. You can still find it someplaces.

Manga I got at neo Tokyo

Overall, it was great to meet other anime clubs and share things. Unfrotunely, it is the only time that clubs have a chance to meet up in London, Ontario. Hopefully Neo Tokyo can be a hub for furture meetups. Of course, there is a coffe shop opening next door to Neo Tokyo so maybe we can pull a maid cafe sometime.

Meetings are cancelled for May. Some reasons are that meeting dates fall on both Mothers Day and Anime North. As a consequence, we done a triple review of the shows this spring and will be updating the reviews for when meetings should have been in May.

Next meeting will be Sunday June 8th at Worlds Away.
