Yamaneko-ya is an outstanding artist from Japan. While Japan is home to Shito belief of animal worship and mythology of such, Yamaneko-ya has taken Shinwa to different plane and place, Egypt. Horus is the god of the Underworld. Yet in this rendition, he has made the mark under the eye as a scar.

You may not even know that you may have some of Yamaneko-ya's art. You see, Yamaneko-ya is a professional sculpturer and does many of the capsule figurines for companies like Bandai.

Feel free to check Yamaneko-ya's site which has some of his 'other works' but his site is Japanese Only.

Finding an artist I felt comfortable to work on this page was difficult. Heather Bruton's style matched the theme but she wasn't up for imprompt commissions. 4 koma require a quick mind and a quick draw. From seeing her work, she (like alot of artists) rather output quality than quantity.

Paradise Comic Con lead me to Love as a Foriegn Language artist, Eric Kim. He felt it an honour to work on the 4 koma. While some artists do offer to do this challenge gratis, I don't.  I did purchase both volumes of Love as a Foriegn Language which I hope to introduce a few people coming to Mangajam.

What made me do a double-take was the two people, who the book is based on, were there. Frankly not even Eric Kim's art can rightfully capture 'Hana's beauty. Lucky guy.

Eric's site is at http://www.inkskratch.com/.

Months later ta Comic Expo, I ran across Melskunk who was also sharing a booth with Amy Pronovast. She loved the bird since it fit into an exsisting character using Egyptian mythology. Using the two images she added some resemblance of story to progress the strip.  Her artwork as well was excellent addition to the cross-ocean challenge.

Amy Pronovast an be found at Flying Armadillo Productions.

Finally on the last day of Comic Expo 2005, I turned to one of the artists I had started with 4 koma project. George Broderick Jr. has been the artist of several books, I dream of Jeanie, El Mucho Grande, Suicide Blonde and a literary adaptation of The Snow Queen.

George started Ocean and ended Myth by tying up loose ends as the hunter becomes the hunted in the land of Egyptian myth.  I also picked up later two books as well from George.

(Snow Queen is also currently being made in an anime series.)
