While Nippon or Japan is the home of the 4 koma style comic strip, it has not seen the likes of artist challenge. In fact, it was very difficult to get a friend and some of his close artist friends to participate. Conventions like ours don't really exist. Doujinshi cons or more commonly called 'ketto' or 'kets'. Still these artists instead of completing one strip decided to return the challenge to the artists of these shores. They were given a new word list so there wouldn't be a conflict with other 4 komas still out there. It has produced interesting first panels which it will be difficult to choose artists to finish the last three panels.
