Taboo

Taboo is one of the pleasant surprises at the con.  It could be that alot of the pros in the artist alley were more than willing to participate in the 4 koma jams. I personally think that first panel not only sets the premise but also the tone of art styling which others follow.

When Ryan Miller picked 'taboo', I had my misgivings.  Thinking of what a topic like this word conguers up, I thought I would be loosing my PG ratings. Nope. Other strips that weekend would do that to me.

Instead I got slice of real life taboos. Stuff we always do but never talk about.

Most people would think that choice of the artist is a random choice of draw as with most comic jams.  Not with the case when I do the 4 koma project at cons. Artists have their work out for all to see and sell. I try match up the pervious artist work with someone who draws in same vein. Still I have seeal strips on the go to give artist's choice.

Eric Theriault exquist line work was logical choice and he accepted drawing the panel. Eric's work on Veena was perfect.

Still Eric's work was the guy's look at this 'taboo'.  I realised it needed a woman's perspective.

After circling around the artist alley, Janet Heatherington was more than willing contribute. Strangely she was only a few spots down from Eric.

Surprisingly she took the style of  50-60's romance comics which added immensely to the comic.

Finally, I turned to Benjamin Rivers who has done several 4 komas before to finish up this strip. Playing off the word and Janet's last panel, he brought the strip together.

Janet Heatherington thought it was fitting humourous as I handed her copy of the strip. Eric as well. Unfortunely I couldn't remember where Ryan was sitting.

This strip is one of the gems of the con. Please visit the artists websites.
